In the first few years, simple formation
fly-bys with 2 or 3 aircraft were performed. With the growing desire to
improve and offer a more spectacular display it was decided to
specifically train a 4-ship routine and obtain the Swiss authorisation
for display and formation flying, which was done in 2003 for the first
time. The display authorisation is renewed each year, around spring
time, after completing 2-3 days of intensive training under the
supervision of the Swiss Civil Aviation Authorities' designated experts.
In 2006 it was decided to add a fifth aircraft, which allows for more
interesting formations, more complex coreographies and increased
flexibility, but also adds an extra element of difficulty.
In 2007 we added a smoke system on all 5 aircraft.
